I saw a saying the other day as I was driving my Dad back to his retirement village. It said “I hope your troubles only last as long as your New Year Resolutions”. I thought that was hilarious and so true WHY? Because most people set unrealistic New Years’ Resolutions. What makes them unrealistic?:
- Their New Year Resolutions are not congruent with their values
- They don’t put a time on their resolution so there is no goal post to aim at.
- They don’t have an action plan to achieve them
- They don’t do the monthly Psychology and Physiology of Excellence Test to see how they are tracking eg What’s Working, What’s Not Working?
So when setting your goals for this year the old adage of Smart Goals still applies. That is Specific, Measurable, As if NOW, Realistic and Timed. Then monthly cheques to ‘tweek’ what actions are working and not working and the changes required will keep you lazer focused. Otherwise set up a coaching program now so you stay focused and on track this year. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
