Are unresolved emotions affecting your health?
According to Pip McKay from Evolve Now Mind Institute, Emotions drive our behaviour and motivate our success. They give us energy and are a reward for a job well done. Why is it then that many people’s emotions are their punishment, their crutch and their downfall? How do we resolve the painful emotional memories of the past and free ourselves so we can look forward to a positive future?
What is an emotion? Derived from the Latin word “motere”, en emotions meaning is to move. Emotions are impulses to act says Daniel Goleman. The French said that “motere” to them was to excite or agitate which means to “drive”, hence the original statement that emotions really do drive our behaviour. E-motion is the channel where we put our ‘energy into motion’.
Rather than trying to suppress our emotions, it is important that we put this energy to positive use. The suppression of emotions was commonplace in Victorian times in order to create a civilised society.
