It was something my son said in a conversation. I asked him about the possibility of seeing him at Christmas time and he said “I’m too busy to plan that at the moment”.
Have you ever felt like that? Well I got to thinking about that statement and I thought that when you are ‘that busy’ the best thing to do is in fact PLAN, because then it all flows, and you get it all done as planned. Two entirely different perspectives for the same problem.
When planning in NLP we use the Psychology and Physiology of Excellence. What does that mean? Well it means that we use our BRAIN TO THINK about what the goals are that we want to achieve, and then we take the ACTION to make the goals become a reality.
The key however is the checking up on the goal by using all of your senses to see if everything is still on track. This keeps your finger on the pulse of ‘What is Working’ and ‘What is not Working’. With the things that are NOT working you then decide to outsource them, change them or let them go.
This Planning process keeps your goal active and on track.
Planning, Setting and Achieving Goals
G Get clear on what it is you really want. The subconscious mind is symbolic so it needs a very clear symbol to follow. Write it out with as much detail as possible.
O Own your goal by believing you can have it. Plant it in the subconscious mind so you are now emotionally attached to it in every cell of your body.
A Action your goal every single day. Ask yourself “What have I done today to reach my goal”?
L Love your Goal. Pay it the same attention as you would a loved one. Ask yourself every week “What’s working and what’s Not Working”? Keep doing what is working. With what’s not working, decide if you can do it better, different, outsource a part of it, or is there a part of your goal you have to let go of. This keeps your goal on track and ideal (an idea you fall in love with).
